Assam reports six more death in Japanese Encephalitis, death toll rises to 16

Guwahati : At least 3 more people on Assam have died as a result of Japanese Encephalitis on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, 2 persons in Karimganj and 1 in Sivasagar have died due to JE, said official.

In addition, 6 new cases reported in theke state, 3 in Dhemaji, 2 in Morigaon and 1 in Dibrugarh.

A total of 16 persons have lost their lives due to JE in the state, official added.

Altogether 121 cases of JE have been reported in Assam since July 1.

In the presence of Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, a review meeting on the JE and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) situation was convened.

Meanwhile, Mahanta scheduled to have a detailed district was review on Thursday.
