B’deshi youths enters Indian soil untraced, 8 BSF men ‘closed’

Latu : In a concerning incident highlighting potential gaps in border securtiy, a bangladeshi youth man managed to enter Indian Territory through Sutarkandi land port on a motorcycle. though the young man is still missing, his bike and helmet were recovered abandoned in Karimganj town on Thursday.

One sub-inspector, two head constables, five constables of 167 battalion of BSF have been ‘closed’ in the incident.

Sources said, the Bangladeshi man was caught on CCTV camera at Dewanji Bazar locality of Silchar on Thursday.

The BGB assured their full cooperation in the ongoing investigation during flag meeting held at the international border on Thursday. C.P. Meena DIG of the Silchar sector of the BSF’s Mizoram-Cachar frontier, supervised the border security system on Thursday and ordered the establishment of a separate operational (OP) point and the installation of CCTV cameras at the zero point of the border.
