Minor booked for attempt to rape a three year old girl child
Karimganj : A 15 year old boy from the same neighbourhood was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a three year old girl child in Karimganj. Police have arrested him under various sections of the POCSO act.
According to the police, the alleged incident took place at around 5:30 PM on Sunday and the accused initially fled the area but later on the locals managed to nab him. The family members of the victims said that the boy came around 5 PM to their house and was playing with the child.
The child’s mother went out for some work for about 15 minutes. On her return she saw the boy completely naked and trying to remove the girl’s clothes. The boy, on seeing the mother of the girl child back home, fled from the area, only to get caught by the locals a few moments later.
SP, Karimganj, Partha Pratim Das, told the reporters on Monday that they have registered a case based on the complaint field by the child’s family members. Since the accused is a 15 year old boy, it will be handled by the JJB.
“He has been kept in a house and will be produced before the JJB later today.” They are now investigating the matter and the victim has undergone a mandatory medical examination. The girl child is too young to tell us about the crime but we have recorded the statement of her family members,” Das added.
