Govt official held in Silchar over bribery charge

Silchar : Sleuths of the directorate of vigilance and anti corruption department, Government of Assam arrested na official of the Silchar Development Authority on Tuesday over bribery charges.

According to sources, a team of the directorate of vigilance and anti corruption department visited the SDA office and caught Abhijit Kar, who works as a field surveyor with the SDA, red handed after Kar accepted a bribe of Rs. 15,000 for issuing a NOC from a person who had complained against Kar regarding bribery. The team carried out a search at the SDA office and further investigation into the matter is being conducted, the sources said.
