Karimganj dyke cum road’s works incomplete for years; locals seek MLA Malakar’s intervention

Karimganj : Residents of Rupargram and its neighbouring villages in Karimganj district’s Ramkrishnanagar Assembly constitutency have sought the intervention of MLA Bijoy Malakar in connection with the non-completion of the Rupargram-Channighat-Fakiragram embankment cum road’s construction work.

The embankment cum road is the only road for the people nearly 5 villages to travel to other areas.

Talking to reporter on Monday, the govt. had approved funds for the construction of dyke cum road around 2 years ago & the work was begun, however, the project has not been completed even after 2 years, locals alleged.

They mentioned that a bridge on the dyke cum road was damaged badly during the monsoon season last year but it has not been repaired so far. The authorities concerned are not giving importance to the matter due to which the contractor has been carrying out the work, they alleged.

They said people, especially student, are facing problems because of the bridge’s pathetic condition, but the authorities are oblivious to the matter. Further they demanded that the bridge be repaired and the entire project completed and sought BJP MLA Malakar’s intervention.
