Two smugglers caught with drugs worth ₹12 crore in Karimganj

Silchar : Assam Police continued their crackdown on the illegal drug trade with a successful operation on Wednesday. SP Partha Pratim Das led a search operation after intercepting a vehicle with regn. no. AS/11/EC/2082 at the Veterbond area under the under the Ratabari PS, near theke Assam-Mizoram border.Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered a total of 121 sopas containing approximately 1.5 kg of suspected heroin.

The police arrested two individuals in connection with the seizure, identified as Abdul Kalam & Saju Mohammed. The estimated market value of the seized heroin is around ₹12 crore.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the effort of the AP on his official Twitter handle, saying,

The police are currently interrogating the two arrested individuals to uncover more information about the illegal drug trade.
